Fractional CO₂ vaginal laser procedures use controlled energy applied to vaginal tissue. They are sometimes marketed as “vaginal rejuvenation,” but that phrase can cover many different concerns. Energy-based devices are not FDA-approved specifically to treat vaginal laxity, sexual dysfunction, urinary incontinence, or menopausal symptoms, and evidence varies by condition and device.
Dryness, discomfort, urinary symptoms, painful intercourse, and tissue changes can have different causes. A private evaluation helps determine whether examination, testing, gynecologic care, pelvic-floor therapy, medication, or another approach should be considered before any laser procedure.
Available studies differ in design and quality, and improvement is not guaranteed. Potential risks include pain, burns, bleeding, scarring, infection, altered sensation, painful intercourse, or worsening symptoms. Treatment is not appropriate for everyone.
